Lea Nature Preserve

Lea Nature Preserve is a privately owned conservancy on Walkers Island, North Carolina. Our mission is to help preserve the native plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life in coastal North Carolina.



Highlights:
Lea Nature Preserve is located just to the Northwest of the Nags Head Woods Ecological Preserve on the Outer Banks of NC. The preserve features an extensive marsh system of 65 acres where wetlands join maritime forest hummocks to create an idyllic home for river otter, deer, fox, muskrat, and bear. The preserve is an important nesting area for more than 50 species of birds, including heron, osprey, wood duck, great horned owl, and pileated woodpeckers.
